Yesterday morning I looked out of my window and found everything coverd with a beautiful white layer of snow. But later, in the afternoon heavy rain set in and the first glimpse at the coming winter was washed away again…

It’s been about two weeks now since I last gave you and update here. So read here what happened in these weeks (in reverse order).

Facelift concert at Gasthaus Schabhüttl in Rudersdorf.
The concert was great and I really like their music but the atmosphere there was not so good. There was a unique mix of smells in the room: Mouldy smell, joss stick smell and of course cigarette smoke. And also the main part of the audience was a bit strange for a concert like this but considering the applause they seemed to like the music somehow.

Flo came to Vienna for the Maxїmo Park concert.
So for lunch we wanted to go to some place at the Naschmarkt but when we arrived there, everything was closed because it was the national holiday. On that occasion they had also put little Viennese flags on all the trams here in Vienna. We lunch at a Chinese restaurant but didn’t go to the military parade on Heldenplatz.

At night of course we went to the Maxїmo Park concert at the Gasometer. There were a lot of people, so the big hall was really full. The support band The Research was not that good but Maxїmo Park were totally great. They really rocked the house.

Some of you might be wondering, what I’m doing all the time here in Vienna. Well, I will tell/show you. As I haven’t found a permanent place in a shared apartment yet, I still continue looking for one, which is actually starting to get on my nerves, after more than one month now. But on the other hand I really got used to going to all those flats after work, although it can get really stressful. Anyway, the good thing about this is, that I get to know all different areas of Vienna and by now I don’t even have to look at the map any more to know which underground, tram or bus I have to take to get from one place to another.

To allow you to see, how difficult and crazy it is to find a room here in Vienna I marked all the places I’ve already been to on the map (see above) because you know, a picture can tell more than a thousand words…
(I put the map in a separate post because I want to keep it on top of this page as long as the flat search continues (so hopefully not too long) and update it from time to time)

P.S. You can count the pins, they’re a lot already…

Last weekend in Graz was great. I arrived on Friday evening (see the picture from the journey in the previous post). After having a pizza, we first went to the Exil for a beer. After this we went to the UCI cinema in Annenhofstraße for the midnight movie. It was a Japanese horror movie called “Hair Extension” which was yes a bit scary but mostly a bit boring and funny. You can watch the trailer for this movie here (It’s in Japanese but you can see a bit of what it’s about):

Some may recognize the girl from Kill Bill I. Strange fantasies some Japanese seem to have. But it was worth the 4€ we paid, just for fun.
After this we went to Continuum, a really nice place in Sporgasse and walked home afterwards, as public transport at night is so poor in Graz

Saturday nigh was the Texta/Die Antwort/Hinterland concert at the Postgarage. Was also nice and afterwards again a 30-minutes-walk…. Here’s a picture of the gig. Maybe I upload a few more soon.

And on Sunday afternoon I went for a coffee to Tribeka with S. Was also nice to see her again.

Well was nice in Graz this weekend. Well I know I’m repeating myself but I’m just to lazy to think of some more sophisticated words and to write a more than these few lines.

An autumn afternoon

I just came home from the cinema. We went to see the German movie Vier Minuten, which is situated in a female prison where an old lady doesn’t want to give up giving some of the inmates piano lessons.

When she finds out that one of the girls is extraordinarily talented and starts to teach her, her strict way of teaching and her controlled daily routine start to come to an end. First the two women can’t stand each other but as time passes by they become some kind of friends until everything climaxes in the participation at a young musicians’ contest…

Well it’s not one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, because the story wasn’t really that innovative but it was OK. I really liked the colours and the camera work.
